TTC TRASH TAKEOVER

THE PROJECT

This project aims to address the issue of littering and incorrect recycling habits within TTC subway stations. Through personal observations and data collection, the need for improved environmental practices became evident. To tackle this problem, I focused on developing visuals that compel commuters to be more respectful of communal spaces and adopt responsible behavior towards waste.

THE PROCESS

Throughout the project, I focused on capturing busy commuters' attention and conveying data creatively. Inspired by successful subway ad campaigns, I chose station takeovers with bold, large-scale branding. Using less common colors like orange and purple helped my visuals stand out. A key challenge was guiding people to the facts, which I addressed by strategically placing data in areas that encouraged interaction. Diagrams prompted commuters to rethink their habits and adopt more responsible behaviors.

SUBWAY CAR HEADERS

These posters would run in groups of 3 along the upper interior of subway cars.

POSTERS

These two posters would be located right above garbage and recycling bins inside the subway station.
