BLACK JOY EXHIBIT

ILLUSTRATION + DIGITAL ART

THE WORK

This series celebrates the vibrant legacy of Black culture through dance, showcasing iconic moves that have shaped and defined pop culture. Rooted in rhythm, dance and music are a timeless source of joy and connection for the Black community, uniting us through shared expression and resilience. Each figure represents not only a dance but also a legacy of creativity, community, and cultural influence that continues to influence to this day. Dynamic shapes and textures reflect the energy and fluidity of music, ever-changing yet deeply grounding. This work is a personal homage to the mixture of connection and rhythm I feel within. These illustrations will be displayed as part of the 2025 Black History Month Exhibition at Sankofa Square (formerly Young and Dundas square).
